Doug Holder is one of The Legis Group's original partners. After working in the commodity plastics industry in the Southeast, Midwest, and Texas markets, he moved to Florida to pursue commercial real estate opportunities. He decided to follow his degree in political science from Middle Tennessee State University and run for public office. Doug was elected the the Florida House of Representatives in 2006. Doug served the Sarasota County constituents in the legislature until he termed out in 2014. During his time in office, he served as chairman of the Sarasota delegation, chairman of the Economic Development and Tourism sub Committee, the Congressional Redistricting sub Committee, and the Regulated Affairs full Committee. Doug has received several rewards throughout his career, including Global Business Who’s Who Outstanding Young Men of America Florida Chamber of Commerce Distinguished Advocate Florida Council On Aging Advocate for Older Citizens Florida Insurance Council Leadership Award Veterans of Foreign Wars Legislative Achievement Award Some of Doug’s more notable legislative achievements are sponsoring a bill that allows law enforcement to collect DNA upon arrest, banning texting while driving, and passing key legislation in Governor Rick Scott’s successful jobs package. Under Doug’s Regulated Affairs Chairmanship, he participated in opening the Windstorm insurance market to the private sector. Combining Doug’s business accomplishments and his legislative performance gives him a unique perspective on clients needs for all governmental pursuits.
